The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested four individuals in connection with the disappearance of a newborn baby at a health centre in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

The incident, which occurred on Monday morning, sparked chaos within the hospital premises and its surrounding area. According to witnesses, the baby had been delivered on Sunday evening but was discovered missing the next morning when nurses attempted to care for the infant.

“It was when the nurses on duty came to attend to the baby that they realized the child was missing,” a source at the facility said.

The situation reportedly threw the hospital staff, the mother, and nearby traders into confusion and panic.

Reacting to the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ekiti State, DSP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the development and stated that the Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, had ordered an immediate and thorough investigation.

“The CP has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to carry out a full investigation and ensure the baby is recovered,” Abutu said.

He added that four suspects have already been arrested and are cooperating with investigators, providing credible information that could lead to the resolution of the case.
