A support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State has formally endorsed the senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Shehu Buba, to contest the 2027 governorship election in the state.
The endorsement was announced on Sunday during a meeting in Bauchi, where stakeholders highlighted Senator Buba’s contributions beyond his legislative duties.
Chairman of the committee, Aminu Danmaliki, explained that the decision followed a careful assessment of the lawmaker’s track record.
> “Shehu Buba, aside from his legislative responsibilities, has shown commitment to the economic well-being of the citizens of the state. He was the only lawmaker who, during the economic hardship that followed the removal of the fuel subsidy, supported the masses with food intervention,” he said.
Danmaliki added that Senator Buba had also invested in education by sponsoring students on scholarships both at home and abroad. He urged residents of the state to complement the endorsement by registering with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
> “Endorsement is not enough. We must all have our PVCs to enable us to exercise our franchise,” he stressed.
Also speaking, the APC Chairman of Bauchi Local Government, Sunusi Biyali, described Buba as the only party member in the state who had defended the APC’s integrity in 2024.
> “Buba’s contributions to his constituents are commendable. He has shown leadership by identifying with his constituents and the entire APC membership in Bauchi,” Biyali said.
He expressed confidence that with Senator Buba’s leadership, the APC stands a strong chance of reclaiming power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state ahead of the 2027 polls.
